Ariane Koek Initiator & Founding Director, Arts at CERN; Global leader leader in the field of science and art
Ariane Koek is an independent and international vision maker, producer, writer, and curator who designs and delivers new cultural programs working across different knowledge systems, including arts science technology and ecology. She is well-known for initiating in 2009 the Arts at CERN program, designing, delivering, and directing it for the first five years at the world’s largest physics laboratory in Geneva, Switzerland.
Today, Ariane works globally as an independent strategic consultant, thought partner and creative strategist in art, science, technology and ecology - with foundations, science museums, big science laboratories, universities, governmental organisations, philanthropists, galleries, contemporary art spaces, and not for profits. She is an acknowledged expert in setting up and conceiving of artists in residence and transdisciplinary collaborations, including with arts and sciences.
The unifying factor in Ariane's work is her profound belief in the power of the imagination and creativity to change the world and create paradigm shifts for the good of all. The imagination and creativity are humanity's most powerful and unique quality - opening up people's minds and hearts, including those of politicians and policy makers, who have the power to influence our lives.
