Daryl Karp - Director & CEO, Australian National Maritime Museum

Ms Daryl Karp has worked as a senior executive in the broadcast andcultural industries for over 20 years. Prior to her appointment as Directorand CEO of the Australian National Maritime Museum she was the Directorof the Museum of Australian Democracy (MoAD) at Old Parliament Housefrom 2013 to 2022. During her time at MoAD she established a strategicdirection that focused on ‘the spirit of Australian democracy and thepower of your voice within it’, positioning the museum as a new kind oftown square, based on the democratic principles of equality, freedom,justice, representation.

Ms Karp is the Chair of the Canberra Writers Festival and served as Chairof the Council of Australasian Museum Directors from 2017 to 2021. Shehas previously held executive roles in broadcast media, independentproduction houses and the public sector. Previous roles have includedCEO and Managing Director of Film Australia, Head of Factual Programs(Television) at the ABC, and Non-Executive Director for SBS. She has alsoserved on the Boards of the Sydney Jewish Museum and the AustralianChildren’s Television Foundation.
