Henry Volans

Director, Faber Press at Faber & Faber

Henry Volans leads a new division created in 2014 at Faber & Faber charged with creating a new kind of business. He is responsible for the commercial performance of Faber's consumer-facing and digital businesses. Faber Press includes the Faber Academy, a creative writing school; Faber Finds, an ebook and print-on-demand list; and Faber Members, a membership programme supported by high-end print editions and events. Henry also leads Faber's acclaimed digital publishing in new formats, from subscription services for higher education to consumer apps and websites.

Prior to this role Henry launched Faber Digital in 2010 with a brief to build a profitable digital publishing portfolio. Early releases include the ground-breaking iPad apps 'Solar System' and 'The Waste Land', and the first app ever to be nominated for a TV BAFTA Award. Projects for 2012 include a cross-publisher venture with Bloomsbury, Drama Online, as well as an ambitious programme of apps across many strands of the arts.
