Rafe Offer is the Co-Founder and Executive Chairman of Sofar Sounds. Sofar Sounds reimagines the live music experience for artists and fans through intimate performances in over 400 cities. Since its founding in 2009, Sofar has grown from a grassroots community movement to hosting over five hundred local events per month in cities around the world.
Sofar began when Rafe and two friends found themselves frustrated by the distractions commonly found at live events like people on their phones, talking over performances, jam-packed venues and subpar stereo systems. As an alternative, he began hosting small groups of friends and artists in a London flat. As interest in attending these intimate gigs grew and this movement expanded to cities outside of London, Rafe and his co-founders recognized an opportunity to deliver a new kind of live event experience to engaged audiences at scale. He launched Sofar Sounds in 2009 to realize this vision.
Rafe brings extensive experience to Sofar formerly leading marketing, product development and innovation teams at major global brands including Coca-Cola, the Walt Disney Company and UK-based spirits company Diageo. Through these experiences, Rafe developed an inherent understanding of how to strategically build a brand experience that resonates with consumers at every touch point.
