Founder and creative visionary behind Grumpy Sailor. In this capacity James has overseen almost every Grumpy Sailor project since its humble beginnings A creative polymath at heart, James is instrumental in working with collaborators to define, conceptualise, secure and deliver on the often impossible creative vision of a project. James’ experience spans a variety of mediums including moving image, written word, in-gallery experiences, interactive products and immersive experiences, sometimes all at once.

James has enjoyed an enviable list of commercial and artistic partners including PunchDrunk, The Royal Shakespeare Company, The Sydney Opera House, Google, ACMI, WWF, Arts Centre Melbourne, The Melbourne Museum, Adelaide Fringe Festival and many more.

Beyond his role as Founder and CEO of Grumpy Sailor, James has been integral in the development and delivery of large-scale digital immersive projects. Current exhibition projects in development with James providing creative oversight include developing select exhibitions for Melbourne Museums Triceratops exhibit and Sydney Living Museums and the large scale, permanent Immersive Experience ‘Terminus Grand Central.’

James’ innate curiosity for ‘discovery of the new’ means he finds himself at the forefront of Australia’s creative arts and technology industries.

James is also a member of the NSW government 24-Hour Economy Advisory Group.
