Taking Stock: The WA Museum Boola Bardip

Summit: syd24

Length: 16:14

The WA Museum Boola Bardip opened in late November 2020 during COVID and when the WA boarders were closed. As it nears four years since opening, the institution has transitioned from the frenetic, foundation stage, to a more mature one. This session will explore the museums approach to creating an activated, dynamic creative visitor experience, including some highlights, a few fortuitous experiments, a smattering of lessons learnt and a sneak peek at what is to come.

Helen Simondson - Manager, WA Museum Boola Bardip

I am a creative cultural producer, focused on art technology and innovation. I am deeply invested in the nexus of the start-up innovation and the creative and cultural industries. I co-designed and delivered the first Australian Museum led, Creative Tech Business Accelerator, ACMI Xcel: Creative Tech Accelerator. Xcel fosters groundbreaking innovation and helps creative Industries practitioners build viable global businesses.

My personal interest is in how technology activates innovative ways to engage with new and diverse audiences, and I believe there is cultural and social value in the participatory culture which is rapidly expanding with the rise of portable media platforms.

I am always seeking new challenges where I can apply my broad skill-set in the successful development and delivery of innovative and creative programs. Highly skilled in leading multi-disciplinary teams; setting direction, motivating commitment and driving results.
