Tory Loudon Festival Director, New Annual Newcastle & former Curator Vivid Ideas

Tory Loudon has experience in creating unique festivals and programs that attract and diversify audiences, celebrate creativity and inspire participation. She helped establish Carriageworks as a new multi-artform venue in Sydney and built connections with the diverse local community and the national and international arts community. At the Sydney Opera House, she introduced Public Programs that opened the doors to new audiences including the Festival of Dangerous Ideas, Utzon Room Music Series, Spring Dance and Message Sticks Festival. For Vivid Sydney, as Curator of Ideas and Experiences, she introduced immersive performances, commissioned work from some of Australia's most innovative companies and embedded the festival across the city by partnering with organisations such as the Art Gallery of NSW, the ABC, the National Museum, the MCA and the Powerhouse. She has helped design and deliver international and national audience development strategies for Creative Australia as well as being a creative or executive producer for many of Australia's leading arts companies (Bangarra, ADT, STC, Bell Shakespeare and SDC). Her new position as Festival Director for the New Annual, Newcastle pulls her love of storytelling, developing audiences and elevating artists together.
