Tom Avison

Tom Avison is a creative industries leader whose career began in production and has evolved into shaping the places, cultures and creative ecosystems that enable industries and individuals to thrive.
As inaugural CEO of Perth Film Studios, Tom is at the forefront of developing one of the Southern Hemisphere’s newest screen production hubs - helping position Western Australia as a globally-connected centre for creative production, talent development and cultural exchange.
Before relocating to Australia, Tom spent more than two decades across the UK’s film, television and creative sectors, holding senior leadership roles at some of the industry's most influential organisations. As Director of Operations at Sky Studios Elstree, he helped launch one of Europe's most advanced and sustainable studio campuses. Prior to that, he led the reactivation of the 100-year-old Twickenham Studios post-COVID, and was the driving force at 3 Mills Studios in London helping to transform the historic site - after the 2012 Olympics - into a vibrant creative ecosystem where film and drama production sat alongside animation, entertainment, television, theatre, live performance, music and opera.
Tom's career has spanned production, exhibition, post-production, industry development and studio leadership, giving him a unique perspective on how creative industries evolve and how infrastructure, policy, technology and talent come together to drive cultural and economic impact.
A passionate advocate for the role of creativity in shaping cities and communities, Tom regularly speaks on creative leadership, sustainable growth, the future of production, and how cultural infrastructure can unlock innovation across entire ecosystems. His work focuses not simply on the operation of facilities, but enabling the culture in which ideas, industries and people can thrive.
