Tanya Sim Co-Founder & Managing Director, Block
Tanya Sim is co-founder and Managing Director of strategic brand consultancy, Block Branding. She started Block with her husband in 2002 soon after moving home to Perth from working in the US and UK as an interior architect and project manager.
In 2016 and in 2017 Block was awarded the Campaign Brief Challenger Agency of the Year Award for small, non-traditional agencies.
Block have worked with many of Perth’s important cultural institutions, including the Perth International Arts Festival, Telstra Perth Fashion Festival, MRA, State Theatre Centre, City of Perth Library, National ANZAC Centre, Royal Agricultural Society, and the rebranding of the Fremantle Football Club.
We have a strong history and passion for doing philanthropic work with smaller WA-based arts organisations including Revelation Film Festival, Artopia, WritingWA and ARTery (formerly part of Friends of AGWA).
In 2011, Tanya was awarded the WA Business News 40 Under 40 award, and she was shortlisted for the Telstra Business Women’s Awards a year later.
Tanya was appointed as a Trustee to the Perth Theatre Trust in December 2016. The Perth Theatre Trust are responsible for the management of the State Theatre Centre of WA, His Majesty’s Theatre, Subiaco Arts Centre and the Albany Entertainment Centre. It is also responsible for the lease of the Perth Concert Hall.
Tanya is Chair of the Highgate Primary School Board, the City of Perth’s public primary school and one of Western Australia’s first Independent Government Schools. She is past vice president and secretary of the Leederville Early Childhood Association.
She was a Board Member of the Mark Howlett Foundation until the organisation finished it’s 20th and final project. MHF was an organisation raising money through a subscription model for mid-career WA artists.
