Rod Macneil Head, Communication and Partnerships Museum Victoria

Rod Macneil leads brand communications, audience development, and fundraising and partnerships for Museum Victoria, Australia’s largest museums organisation. MV has five venues – Melbourne Museum, Scienceworks, the Immigration Museum, the World Heritage listed Royal Exhibition Building and IMAX Melbourne Museum – and around 2 million visitors annually.

Over the past 20 years Rod has built brands and audiences for cultural organisations in both Australia and the United States. At MV he’s leading a major transition in how the organisation thinks about its audiences, moving from product-led to audience-led driven by insights, segmentation and data. The things he gets passionate about are audiences, ideas and ensuring cultural institutions stay relevant both in what they do and how they do it.
