Mark and the Innovation Centre team assist startup ventures to launch and scale. Mark has a demonstrated track record in creating value by connecting creative ideas, people, programs and capital. His focus is on entrepreneurship, business development and improving the innovation capability in the region.
The Innovation Centre (a USC company) was established in 2002 and has become one of the largest and most successful business incubators in Australasia - home to over 40 startup and high growth companies with over 160 graduate companies which have created over 800 jobs for the region. In previous roles, Mark assisted in the establishment of a range of new ventures including Dascom (now owned by IBM), QuickBeds (now owned by Flight Centre), FireWire, Tracknology and Storey Bridge Climb. Mark helped introduce the Pitch for Investment Competition, DemoDays, Startup Weekend, Boardroom Briefings and new networking groups on the Sunshine Coast. Mark also contributed to a number of projects and strategies including Australia TradeCoast, the ourBrisbane portal, the Smart State Strategy, the Cities of Asia Pacific Conference, The Sunshine Coast Digital Strategy & The Regional Economic Development Strategy.
