Mal Haskins IFMGA / NZMGA Mountain and Ski Guide Lead Logistics / Operations - Helambu Relief - Nepal Earthquake 2015

Mal Haskins has had a varied career across a broad range of professions. He has been a qualified electrical Engineer, a comisioned officer in the Australian army, worked for Greenpeace, taught outdoor education form many years, is a commercial tandem paragliding pilot and maintains his own small internet server/ webdesign business.
However his primary work is that of an International Mountain Guide - leading climbing expeditions on various peaks around the globe and across New Zealand from his town of Wanaka. Mal spends quite a large amount of time working in the Nepalese Himalaya and was in Nepal during the 1st Earthquake on the 25th April, 2015.
Together with his wife Sophie Ward, they emabarked on creating an small independant aid and medical group to reach into some of the most remote and least accessable regions of the Sindulphulchowk District - the focus was on the Helambu VDC. Mal used a mixture of Social Media and Crowd Sourcing platforms to begin the funding for this humanitarian effort.
