Kirsten Brandt Co-Director, The Shells - Ausflug nach Neu-Friedenwald
Kirsten Brandt (born 1989) is a Berlin-based photographer and film and theatre director. Since completing her studies in Comparative Literature and Art History, Kirsten has been behind as well as in front of the camera for a number of independent film projects as director, production designer and actress.
In June 2015, Kirsten co-directed the immersive Twin Peaks-inspired theatre play The Shells – Ausflug nach Neu-Friedenwald which attracted domestic as well as international attention and was financed almost entirely through crowdfunding. She is now working on another immersive performance called Empfänger verzogen (Receiver moved) that deals with social anxiety and the Hikikomori phenomenon in modern society, combining the performance medium with virtual reality devices in order to allow a second level of perception and build a bridge between virtual and physical reality.
