Jason is Professor of Economics at RMIT University in Melbourne. He is one of the worlds leading evolutionary economists, and currently Vice President of The International Joseph A Schumpeter Society. His research focuses on innovation economics and policy, complexity economics, institutional economics, public choice economics, the economics of cities, and the economics of creative industries. He has published five books on these topics, and over 70 scholarly journal articles. His current work centres on the theory of innovation commons, and the new economics of intellectual property. Jason has been extensively involved in developing new economic models of the creative industries, jointly with the ARC Centre of Excellence in Creative Industries, and also working with NESTA in London. He has a regular column in The Conversation commenting on creative industries policy.
