Henry Boston Executive Director, The Chamber of Arts and Culture, WA

Henry Boston is an experienced arts and community engagement administrator. His background has included theatre performance, stage lighting, technical and stage direction, multi-arts programming and arts to business advocacy.

He has sat on numerous arts and advisory boards including the Confederation of Australian International Arts Festivals as well as chair of the Perth Institute of Contemporary Arts.

As the General Manager of the Festival of Perth (1988-1999) he co-commissioned the stage adaptation of Tim Winton' Cloudstreet, the indigenous work Mimi and skadada's Electronic Big Top. All of which went on to be performed nationally and internationally. Other responsibilities included chairing the Perth Writers Festival and overseeing the visual arts program of the Festival.

On leaving the Festival in 1999 he produced and toured new Australian work nationally and to cities such as Chicago, Galway, Sao Paulo, London, Zurich, New York and Singapore.

In 2001 Henry was appointed as the State Manager WA for the Australia Business Arts Foundation (AbaF). Under his direction the office became the benchmark in Australia for active engagement between the business sector and the arts.

He joined the Chamber of Arts and Culture WA as inaugural Executive Director in July 2013. The Chamber is unique in Australia and is an influential voice in cultural policy making, advocacy and cross-sector relations. In 2015 Henry was awarded Western Australian of the Year – Arts and Culture.
