Ed Sayers

Director, SUPER NATURE film

Ed Sayers is the director, editor and one of the producers of the forthcoming feature documentary Super Nature: a love letter to nature filmed on Super 8, by people connecting across the world. The film had its World Premiere as a Grierson nominee at BFI London Film Festival in October and has been acquired for UK & Ireland by BFI Distribution for cinema release in 2026. Ed's background is in directing and producing ads and music videos, most notably with high public engagement such as producing T-Mobile ‘Dance’ and directing 45 minute livestream lockdown shows over Zoom for Take That and Little Mix. He’s worked in production companies, and agencies like Saatchi & Saatchi as Ed of Stuff, and produced a stage show at Edinburgh Fringe Festival for Mother called Pot Noodle The Musical. HIs first short film, Goldfish, featured a then unknown Michael Fassbender. In 1999, he started the Super 8 filmmaking competition ‘straight 8’, which holds premieres at Cannes Film Festival and BFI IMAX, and is now a global filmmaking community. Ed has just joined the board of trustees at The Phoenix Cinema, East Finchley, one of London’s oldest independent cinemas, his first duty to hold a 45 minute Q&A with Michael Attenborough CBE.
