Bliss Jensen
Director, Gallery Development, Australian War Memorial, ex-Creative Director, WA Museum Boola Bardip
Bliss has directed major museum redevelopment projects for over a decade, leading large multidisciplinary teams to reimagine exhibitions through a deeply visitor‑centred lens. Her practice is grounded in co‑design, community‑led storytelling and inclusive engagement, ensuring exhibitions are shaped by the people whose stories they tell. Across social, cultural and natural history contexts, Bliss applies design thinking to complex challenges—finding empathy through community collaboration, insight through audience feedback, and opportunity through innovation.
Bliss is currently leading the Australian War Memorial’s nine‑year development program, delivering over 10,000 square metres of new exhibition spaces. With the opening of Stage 1 galleries underway, she is now guiding Stage 2 planning, including interactive education spaces and the Colonial and Frontier Wars exhibitions, with a strong focus on truth-telling, meaningful visitor experiences and learning outcomes.
Prior to joining the Memorial, Bliss was Creative Director of the Western Australian Museum’s New Museum Project, where she helped shape WA Museum Boola Bardip, establishing a new exhibition direction that weaves First Nations voices alongside Western science and historical narratives. Earlier in her career, she delivered major temporary, travelling and refurbishment projects for museums nationwide, including Vikings at the Australian National Maritime Museum; Tyrannosaurs and Garrigarang at the Australian Museum; and First Peoples and Hidden Treasures of Afghanistan at Melbourne Museum.
