Becc Bates

Director, Centre of Immersive Light and Art, Adelaide

Becc is the Chief Executive Officer of ILA – Adelaide’s centre for immersive light and art. Joining ILA at the start of 2025, Becc is leading a dynamic team to develop and present creative, sensory immersive experiences across gastronomy, visual arts, live performance and interactive digital entertainment.

Prior to joining ILA, Becc’s career has taken her through economic development, management in the music industry, and into state government, where she held the role as Director of Creative Industries. During this time, she led development of transformative policies to support creative enterprise. A recognised leader, Becc received the Public Service Medal in 2024 for her contributions to South Australia’s music and creative industries.

“After a career in government dedicated to supporting creative enterprise, returning to industry within a business that engages creatives to present sensory, immersive experiences for people to engage with is incredibly exciting. It truly feels like coming home.” – Becc Bates
