There has been a dramatic growth in the experience economy with 3 in 4 millenials preferring to purchase an experience over a desirable product (Euromonitor). The Alchemy project was designed to develop incredible new experiences through collaborations with leading experience designers across Victoria. A key objective was to develop business models that would make these sustainable rather than one-off projects.
The program provided 14 grants of $20,000 to Victorian creative entrepreneurs. Ideas supported included gamifying the library from a leading escape room designer, virtual and immersive storytelling encounters, engaging new audiences through a content series that will be developed by one of Australian TikTok influencers with 350,000 subscribers, experiential dining and new approaches to visitor tour formats.
The project has received widespread media coverage – we love this piece in The Age where you can read more about it.
