ACMI (Australian Centre for the Moving Image) is a leading Australian cultural institution with 1.3 million visitors per annum. REMIX Agency was commissioned to help the organisation explore what a 21st Century museum would look like through the development of a concept to support creative entrepreneurs exploring the future of the moving image.
The engagement included the development of ACMI X, a concept to support creative entrepreneurs in the screen industries and help ACMI support the development of this sector in new ways. Work included development of a strategy with a series of recommendations that included the proposition for ACMI X, a co-working space for creative entrepreneurs for which we then developed a business plan and supported the project through to delivery. ACMI X also functions as another creative engine for ACMI as it has been a valuable platform to facilitate new creative experiences through collaborations with the tenants. Several award winning exhibition projects have resulted to date from this co-creation activity including for the travelling exhibition Wonderland and the recent $40 million renewal of the main ACMI campus and exhibition spaces at Federation Square. ACMI X has received widespread national media coverage including the The Guardian and The Australian.
The team at REMIX Agency are experts at helping organisations break down the walls of cultural institutions, helping them to understand the trends that have the potential to disrupt the way they operate in the future and developing concrete ideas and strategies to embrace them.
