International showcase producer British Underground and multicultural creative champion B3 Media annually support a cohort of emerging artists to attend SXSW in Austin as part of the Future Art and Culture (FAC) Connect programme. This panel follows three creative pioneers at the start of their journey. FAC is a major UK showcasing initiative at the intersection of art and tech produced by British Underground and Arts Council England with support from the British Council.

As Senior Associate Producer at British Underground one of the many projects Dan manages is British Underground's Connect Programme, an initiative providing professional development, event orientation and financial support for those seeking to gain access to International Showcasing Events. In partnership with the award-winning B3 Media, Dan and British Underground have developed Future Art and Culture Connect, a scheme that supports emerging talent from those currently underrepresented in the creative tech sector with funding, soft skills enhancement, and direct access to SXSW Interactive in Austin, Texas.
Marc Boothe, founder and Creative Director of B3 Media in Brixton, is a pioneering force transforming how artists work with film, visual arts, and emerging technologies. Marc creates dynamic spaces where diverse voices explore the frontiers of immersive storytelling through groundbreaking initiatives: TalentLab XR, Origin, Creative Catalyst: the new B3 Digital Artist Residency programme. A NESTA Fellow and BAFTA member, Marc's work sits at the crucial intersection of technological innovation with social change, championing diverse, underrepresented talent while expanding the boundaries of digital narratives. His innovative approach has established new pathways for artists to harness emerging technologies, creating lasting impact across the creative sector. His early photographic work is currently featured in Tate Britain's major exhibition "The 80s: Photographing Britain."
Gary Riley is a multidisciplinary creative practitioner working across animation, immersive technology, and narrative design. His practice explores the intersection of sci-fi, pop culture, and emerging technologies through VR/XR experiences. With a background in film and television (BBC, Nickelodeon, Cartoon Network), he creates immersive narratives that amplify diverse urban voices. A participant in B3 Media's TalentLab XR 2024 programme, he continues to develop work that pushes the boundaries between traditional storytelling and emerging media while teaching as a Graphic Design lecturer.
Hannah Oliver is a lens-based storyteller exploring new forms of narrative through film and immersive technologies. Her work uncovers hidden histories and finds profound moments in everyday life, examining these themes through the lens of climate justice. She has created pieces for the Roundhouse, British Library, Southbank Centre, and the upcoming V&A East. Hannah's current focus, "Where Are You?", is an immersive VR experience exploring the stories of missing asylum-seeking children through a rites of passage narrative.
Jay Oliver Yip brings his background in performance and theatre to his emerging practice in film and immersive storytelling. His work centers on understated comedies about identity and self-discovery. After co-directing Wolfpack Productions for nearly a decade, Jay is now developing projects that blend immersive technologies with authentic British East Asian experiences. His approach combines a natural gift for comedy with fresh explorations of narrative form.
