Ironbridge Gorge Museums Trust Commercial Strategy

Ironbridge Gorge, the birthplace of the Industrial Revolution, is a UNESCO world heritage site featuring 10 award-winning Museums spread along the valley beside the wild River Severn. As an independent trust, the museums generate significant commercial revenue and engaged REMIX Agency to identify additional opportunities.

REMIX Agency devised a series of recommendations for the Trust, including a detailed strategy for optimising the multi-site retail business model of IGMT. The recommendations also explored further opportunities for the Trust management across spaces, networks, services, content and knowledge.

IGMT is uniquely positioned to benefit from internal opportunities and economies of scale created by aggregating the museums in its network. For many other organisations, it is critical to identify opportunities to aggregate as a source of specialist skills, greater resources and a stronger negotiating position.
